A London Colt Model 1851 Navy revolver made in 1854, serial 8419, in .36 caliber with a 7.5-inch barrel, factory engraved. The piece has been refinished, yet the cylinder scene is still visible and all numbers match. The engraving is sharp and extends even to the rammer, and the grips are excellent with plenty of figure. It rests in its London oak case, which is in very fine condition, with the full set of accessories; those accessories mostly show patina and no original finish.
This is a cased, engraved London Navy for a New Mexico collector, not a working handgun, and the supplier's condition notes are plain: refinished metal, sharp engraving, matching numbers and a very fine oak case. New Mexico keeps no registry of handguns and asks for no purchase permit, so the paperwork is the dealer's NICS check, photo ID and ATF Form 4473 at pickup; dealers sell handguns to buyers 21 and over, and the seven-day wait is waived for concealed handgun license holders.
